Staying Healthy at 50+
The Pocket Guide to Staying Healthy at 50+ was developed by the
Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), part of the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services, in partnership with AARP.
If you are 50 or older, this guide will help you stay healthy.
The guide talks a lot about your risk for getting a disease or
a condition. Your risk for any disease or condition depends on whether
you have one or more risk factors. Examples of risk factors include:
family history, personal health habits, age, sex, and race/ethnicity.
Some risk factors you cannot change. You cannot change your age
or your race for example. Other risk factors, especially your personal
habits, you can change.
To stay healthy, it makes sense to do what you can to lower your
risk for disease. This booklet can help you lower that risk.
