The new "retirement" generation (those adults age 55-70) are generally
happier, healthier, and financially better off than previous generations
in this age group. As Dr. Nancy Henkin, executive director of Temple
University's Center for Intergenerational Learning, noted, "A longer
life span means that more older adults will be seeking an array of
volunteer, employment, and educational opportunities to enhance the
quality of this stage of life."
This new age of "retirement" wants access to meaningful, self-directed
choices for work, service, lifelong learning, and community connections.
Toward this end, the LVAA offers the following information designed
to help older adults make informed choices about getting and staying
connected to the Lehigh Valley, where you are viewed as tremendous
assets.
